The 1/2026 Meeting of the Myanmar Accreditation Committee under the Department of Research and Innovation

The assessment team of the Myanmar Accreditation Body On site visited the Laboratory (Yangon) under the Small Scale Industries Department and conducted an Initial Assessment to evaluate compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, the international standard required for laboratories. The laboratory subsequently corrected and submitted the non-conformities identified by the assessment team, and the Myanmar Accreditation Body has already reviewed the corrective actions. Therefore, in order to obtain the approval and remarks of the members of the Myanmar Accreditation Committee regarding the granting of the ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation certificate, the (1/2026) meeting of the Myanmar Accreditation Committee was held online on 19 May 2026, in the meeting hall of the Department of Research and Innovation. Meeting on the awarding of accreditation Certificate to Internationally Accredited Laboratory and the approval of Data Requested from Domestic Laboratories Convened

With the objectives of presenting accreditation certificates to internationally accredited laboratory, verifying and publishing laboratory-related data, enhancing inter-laboratory cooperation, and enabling laboratory professionals to discuss and provide recommendations on future work plans, the "Meeting on the awarding of Accreditation Certificate to Internationally Accredited Laboratory and the Verification of Data Requested from Domestic Laboratories" was held in a hybrid format on May 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Assembly Hall of the Department of Research and Innovation. During the meeting, opening addresses were delivered by Dr. Phyu Phyu Win, Director General of the Department of Research and Innovation, Dr. Daw Khin Chit, Chairperson of the Myanmar Food Laboratory Network, and Dr. Aye Aye San, Chairperson of the Myanmar Private Hospitals Association. The Department of Research and Innovation, National Analytical Laboratory has undertaken efforts to obtain ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certificate for the determination of Copper, Iron, Manganese, Nickel, and Zinc in water by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (FAAS). As a result of these efforts, the laboratory successfully received the “CERTIFICATE OF TESTING LABORATORY ACCREDITATION” as Accreditation Number Testing -0342 certified by the Bureau of Laboratory Accreditation, Department of Science Service (BLA-DSS), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Thailand, on 29th September 2025.
